MIHS Boys Water Polo FAQs

The MIHS Boys Water Polo team welcomes players of all abilities. You do not need previous water polo experience. We are a big family of students and families that work hard and have fun together.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQS)

When is MIHS Boys Water Polo?

Boys water polo is a fall sport. Our season schedule usually begins with a conditioning week the week before school starts. We begin regular season games in early September and generally have two games per week. We also participate in local tournaments, a JV scrimmage league, and one Varsity travel tournament during our season. The season ends with the State Tournament, which happens in November, usually around Veteran's Day.

What is the practice schedule?

In past seasons, we have practiced at Mercer Island Country Club, 7:30-9:30 pm Monday through Thursday, and 3:30-5 pm on Fridays. There is no practice on game days.

How do I register?

Athletes must register through the MIHS Sports Registration Portal (FinalForms). Registration for Fall Sports does not typically open until mid-summer. You must have a current physical on file. If you have questions about registration, please contact the MIHS Athletic Department.

What is the cost to participate?

Athletes must have an ASB card to register. Families will be asked to pay a MIHS Sports Fee as well as a MIHS WP Booster Club fee. These fees will be discussed in more detail during the Parent Meeting in late August. MIHS WP Booster Club fees are vital to the existence of our program since the majority of our expenses (e.g., pool time, referee fees, tournament and league registration) are not covered by MIHS.

Why should I join?

MIHS WP is known for its team camaraderie, fantastic coaches, and fun. Water polo is the most challenging sport around; by the end of the season you will be amazed by how much you have grown and improved!
